Q: As a board member, STC will demand some of your time during normal business hours. Describe the corporate support or alternative resolution that you currently have in place to allow your full participation in STC board activities.
I am self-employed. My boss is very supportive of my activities in the STC.
In my current position as Documentation Program Manager at Meridium, I have enough flexibility in my schedule to participate in monthly STC board meetings and other activities as needed during business hours. The workload is relatively even, so it will be extremely rare that a hectic work schedule interferes with board activities. Also, the amount of travel required for my position is minimal, but even when I am physically out of the office I will likely be able to fully participate in meetings and other board activities as required.
In today’s connected society, some board work can be completed asynchronously by email discussion, file sharing, or mobile technologies. In fact, when working with other board members and committee volunteers who may be geographically dispersed, these asynchronous methods may work better once a project or task has been launched.
I shoulder great responsibility as the MD & CEO of Technowrites. This also gives me a lot of freedom. Being a management representative, it is my duty to participate in various industry-level associations and network with experts. Technowrites is a pioneer in technical writing services and training in India. We realize that our contribution is very important to building a solid and vibrant community.
Technowrites has a full office setup that can be an asset to STC.
Technowrites has sponsored many events for STC India. I have received active help from my administrative staff to promote and execute city meetings, regional conferences, and even national conferences. We conducted 2 regional conferences in Pune (2012, 2013), and more than 12 city learning sessions and workshops. Many of these events are hosted at Technowrites office.
Technowrites will continue to support STC through the time that I spend.
Technowrites is committed to community initiatives. Many meetings of Art of Living Foundation, Pune Group, are also held in our office, which is centrally located in Pune city.
