TOPIC: From the NomComm: STC as a global organization

From the NomComm: STC as a global organization 2 months 3 weeks ago #107

Q: STC is a global organization. List the languages you speak, the countries you have worked in and your favorite travel destinations. (If you own a current passport, please state so.) Also, what experiences do you have in projects with culturally-diverse teams?

Two years ago, my company merged with a company that has an office in Bangalore, India and I have had the opportunity to visit that office several times. I oversee an Information Development team there, and help guide them to ensure they learn our work standards and processes. That team has recently begun usability testing and video production, a direct result of cross-country collaboration among the Information Development managers.

In my program management responsibilities, I am currently involved with an early adoption customer in the United Kingdom, who also has team members in India and Tunisia. In this new role, I expect to work with other worldwide customers and teams as well.

I speak English and interact daily with other technical communicators and usability and user experience professionals in Europe, Australia, and India through email and other various social networking sites, such as Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

I hold a current passport, and my favorite travel destinations include the U.K., France, and now India.
