Q: What experience do you have with financial tracking and/or information management?

In my job, I control the budget for the global Information Development and Program Management team. I work frequently with budgeting spreadsheets that show where my current hiring, travel, and tools budget stands. As part of my program management duties, I develop and maintain spreadsheets that track the amount we spend on each product line in our company. Additionally, with my managers’ assistance, I track over 50 documentation projects and have served as release manager for several simultaneously. For these projects to be successful, it’s essential that I keep information about those projects organized and easily accessible to stakeholders and team members. I use various tools and methods to categorize and communicate this information.

I have served on the STC Houston admin council several times in the past and gone through budget planning multiple times, as well as planning for the programs and offerings we provide to our members each year. I have run the chapter’s competitions and managed multiple awards banquets on a shoestring budget. Each year we evaluate where we would get the most bang for our buck with our members and implement those ideas. I have also served as Treasurer, maintaining the chapter’s books.
