As the world's largest and oldest professional association dedicated to the advancement of the field of technical communication, STC is comprised of a variety of communities. These chapters and Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are active in meetings, publications, conferences, and building technical communication communities. Their activities involve education, advocacy, and member outreach at both the local and global level.

There are two ways to get involved with STC communities—by geographic location (Professional or Student Chapters) or by area of interest (SIGs). STC’s Gold Membership includes membership in one chapter and one SIG. Additional chapters and SIGs can be added to any membership at a cost of $25.00 per chapter and $10.00 per SIG at any time.
