STC has uploaded a number of recent product updates and programming changes to iMIS, STC’s membership database system. For some members this will necessitate resetting preferences for the kinds of information they prefer to receive by mail or email. This can be accomplished easily and conveniently during members’ online renewal process. Members will be prompted to check boxes indicating their preference to send or not send various types of information via email to their work, home, or other email addresses. Up to three email addresses may be stored in the member record. For example, a member may wish to have election materials (required by Bylaws) sent to their work email, messages containing newsletters or general announcements to their home email, and emails from STC-related vendors to a third email address. Members will also be prompted to indicate if and in what format (print or electronic) they wish to receive the monthly magazine Intercom and quarterly journal Technical Communication. STC considers email information as confidential and does not share or rent email addresses to outside entities. The Society will, for a fee, send reviewed messages from STC-related companies to members. These fees provide partial funding for activities that can not support themselves.
Memberships are effective January 1 – December 31 of each year.
Members may cancel their membership at any time for any reason. No refunds will be issued for cancelled memberships.
