Converting Confluence Wiki to Madcap Flare
Discussion started by Gina Goodson Wadley , on 06 July 04:59 PM

Has anyone here successfully converted a Confluence wiki to Madcap Flare using the HTML Export feature in Confluence?  I want to make sure that new content I create in Confluence can be exported to html, then imported to Flare.

Thanks.

Hi Gina,

Wow, I have not done that, but I hope you post progress reports! I'd be very curious to know the answer as well.

Are you looking at Confluence as the authoring environment because you currently have a lot of material there, or because you need an online collaboration tool? And, you are currently a Flare user, yes, no?

If you have some existing Confluence material, consider running some tests to see what happens. That's the best way to make sure.

I have successfully moved uncompiled HTML source files for CHM projects into Flare. Where I've had to "touch up" imported HTML in predictable, patterned ways across many topics, I've used UltraEdit to create macros and do batch "Find in Files/Replace" operations both before and after import. UltraEdit is inexpensive and this went very quickly.
