Essential Duties and Job Functions:

- Assist in developing and updating procedural documents such as SOPs, works instructions and best practices guidelines for the Biometrics department in-line with regulatory requirements and Gilead internal document standards.

- Contribute to other non-regulatory writing activities as required.

- Work directly with Subject Matter Experts to update and/or develop new SOPs and procedures.

- Work collaboratively with functional contributors (clinical, biometrics, safety team, regulatory compliance, etc.) to gather and incorporate review comments on new procedural documents.

- Work independently with minimal direction from Manager in Biometrics Standards group.

- Participate in both group and moderately complex Company-wide process improvement and development initiatives.

- Help develop Biometrics department change communication emails, and training materials.


Specific pharmaceutical:

- Typically requires a BA degree and minimum 10 years of relevant experience within clinical R&D or regulatory affairs such as pharmaceuticals/biotechnology, which includes 5 years of relevant experience in writing procedural documents.

General scientific:

- Typically requires a BA degree and minimum 10 years of relevant experience or a MS degree and minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or a PhD, MD or DVM degree and minimum 4 years of relevant experience.

- Demonstrated success in the preparation of various process documents.

- Highly developed and proven process development writing skills.

- Excellent verbal communication skills.

- Knowledgeable of regulatory document requirements/guidelines.

- Understands moderately complex document management, authoring and publishing tools and their applicability for workflow efficiency.

- Well-developed computer skills including proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

- Use of project management tools and graphics packages also desirable.

We are currently seeking multiple Technical Editors to provide broad-based technical services in a wide variety of scientific areas to edit, write and/or rewrite technical articles, publications, presentations, and other materials to communicate clearly and effectively research findings, technical developments, and other news and information to a wide range of internal and external audiences. Selected candidates will also be responsible for completing a variety of large and/or complex editing and writing projects, and will be expected to solve problems of varied scope and complexity associated with specific editorial projects. Will coordinate complex production jobs and develop and implement project plans and schedules for moderately complex projects. Will make decisions regarding guidelines, practices, and procedures on project parameters. The selected candidates will interact with authors, SMEs, artists, compositors, and other editors.

TPW Instructor opening at SFSU

The Technical & Professional Writing program at San Francisco State University invites interested professionals to share their expertise with our students. We are recruiting a Lecturer to teach an upper-division course, TPW 555: Visual Rhetoric and Document Design, during fall semester 2014.

The course introduces students to document design principles and processes, with a focus on strategies for integrating text and graphics. Workshop instruction teaches publication design software, with an emphasis on Adobe InDesign. Students are assigned exercises and projects to do during lab, in addition to receiving classroom instruction.

TPW will provide the new instructor with a tested course plan and associated teaching materials, including use of an online course management system. The course is progressively designed to combine research-based theory with current practice.

Instructor will be hired to teach the course for fall semester 2014 only, although repeat employment is a possibility.

Our company, Convio, was just acquired by Blackbaud and, as of today, we have a new tech pubs manager.
