Sharing and support site for community webmasters. We're here to provide a place for you to share best practices and struggles, and to connect with other webmasters within STC. We come from varying backgrounds and have different levels of experience.

Welcome to the Community Webmasters Group. Our purpose is to share best practices, provide guidance to STC community webmasters, and provide a place to brag about some of the things you're doing with the websites you support. You can also pose specific questions.

I think you're right -- it's a scam. If I forget to block the comments on a blog post, you wouldn't believe all the scam spam that gets posted. Just go back and delete the links. Don't kick yourself -- the scammers are getting more clever every day with their social engineering. Carol Anne Academic SIG Communication Manager

Thanks! I've implemented the WP-Touch basic plugin although I'm looking at mobify as well.

Good points Ben. You're right that it is important for the actual communities to use MySTC. I know that the communities I'm involved with *are* working hard to make use of MySTC. - We use the MySTC events calendar extensively (although there are a number of outstanding issues that make it difficult to transition completely) - The TE SIG uses the MySTC chatrooms for our watercooler chats ( - We syndicate content from MySTC to our website (for example: I'm curious to hear how other communities are using (or plan to use) MySTC. I'd also like to learn how is using (or will use) the MySTC network. Some ideas that have been submitted in the past: - Instead of manually listing community events each month (, use the MySTC calendar. - Put *ALL* STC events on the calendar (instead of having them all over the place: and etc ) - Appoint someone as community manager - Migrate the individual mailing lists to Group discussions

The Academic SIG is using WordPress. I have some WordPress experience, so it just made sense.
