Blogging with the STC President
STC President Hillary Hart took a look back at last month's STC Summit and blogged a bit about what she took away from the event. Read her thoughts, then offer your own either as comments or by the linked email, on STC's Notebook.

The course is held twice a week, Thursdays and Fridays, from 8 September through 7 October (with one week off). This course is developed for people who need to learn about DITA and want the basics of the software tools that work with it.
Visit the Certificate Course page and the Live Web Seminar page for full schedules. Many more will be added soon, so check back regularly.
STC Communities, Staffers, Receive APEX Awards
Two STC communities and two STC staffers were named winners in APEX 2011, The Twenty-Third Annual Awards for Publication Excellence. APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the ability to achieve overall communication excellence. Congratulations to the Technical Editing SIG, Carolina Chapter, Liz Pohland (editor, Intercom), and Chip Boyd (webmaster) for their awards. Chip received the coveted APEX Grand Award, and the other three received the APEX Award of Excellence. Read more information about these great honors on STC's Notebook.
Submit Your Nominations for STC Office
Don't forget to submit nominations for STC office for 2012! You can nominate yourself, or someone you feel would make an excellent Society-level officer, by completing the Nomination Form. For 2012, STC members will elect a Vice President, Secretary, Directors (four positions), and Nominating Committee members (two positions). See the STC election page for more information, descriptions of the roles, and to download a nomination form. The Nominating Committee will be contacting nominees over the next six weeks. If you, or the person you nominated, hasn't been contacted by the end of June, please email email@example.com.
You can see a collection of events STC communities are hosting as part of STC's Notebook. Many of the events are online, and all STC members are invited. July's events will be posted soon, so please bookmark the Community Events page and visit it regularly!
